Is a student loan from a foreign country tax deductible?

HI!
My husband is from Sweden. He went to school in the US. He now lives and works in the US. He took his student loans out from a bank/loan-provider in Sweden. They do not send the tax form that is provided by American lenders (like mine) that the IRS says is required. But they were still valid student loans for school and grad school here in America (he was not an exchange student/international student as he applied through regular admissions channels and spent his entire college career here, not abroad), and he pays taxes in the US, NYS and NYC, as he lives and works here. He is considered an American citizen bc we have been married, and gone through the proper channels for all the immigration, national requirements. No issues there.
When we file our taxes this year, can we declare these loans as a deductible? Will we get audited?
The loan was never deductible. The interest is.
Keep proof of the interest payments so you can send them in when the IRS asks to see them.
the federal reserve bank owns you, know who they are
